
Lebanon’s Civil Defense has announced a significant increase in readiness ahead of the fourth and final phase of the municipal elections, scheduled for Saturday, May 24 in the South Lebanon and Nabatiyeh governorates.
In accordance with directives issued by Minister of Interior and Municipalities Ahmad Hajjar, Civil Defense Director General Brigadier General Nabil Farah released a circular raising the alert level to its maximum. The heightened state of readiness will be in effect from 8:00 AM. on Friday, May 23, until 8:00 AM on Sunday, May 25.
Deployment of Civil Defense teams will begin as early as 5:00 AM on election day, particularly near polling stations, in line with a pre-established emergency response plan.
A joint monitoring and operations room has also been reactivated. It will ensure continuous coordination among regions and agencies involved in the electoral process, providing 24-hour operational coverage throughout the voting period.
The Civil Defense has called on citizens to cooperate with field personnel and report any emergencies by dialing 125 or contacting them via WhatsApp at +961 70 192 693.
