Prime Minister Nawaf Salam began a visit to the Bekaa on Thursday morning to assess security protocols at the border posts with Syria.

During his visit, he praised the role of Lebanese armed forces, stating: "The army is the nation's stronghold, embodying sacrifice and loyalty." He also emphasized the importance of "supporting the military institution in facing current challenges."

The Prime Minister's initiative is part of Lebanon's broader goal to strengthen control at its borders and extend its sovereignty over the entire territory, a principle widely advocated by both President Joseph Aoun and the current government in its ministerial statement.

Ahead of the Prime Minister’s tour, the Lebanese army had bolstered its presence along key routes, at village entrances, and at strategic intersections in the city of Baalbek, underscoring the ongoing focus on securing vital areas.
