On Monday, Minister of Interior Ahmad al-Hajjar announced the procedures for filing and withdrawing candidacies for the municipal and mukhtar elections, which will be held on May 4 in the mohafaza of Mount Lebanon.

Anyone wishing to run as a candidate must submit a notarized declaration of candidacy, along with the following documents: an individual electronic civil status certificate, an extract from the criminal record valid for up to one month, a photocopy of the voters' list bearing the candidate's name, authenticated by the chairman of the vote-counting commission, and a deposit of LBP 10 million at the headquarters of the relevant mohafaza.

Candidate applications should be submitted between April 4 and midnight on April 23. The deadline for withdrawing candidacies is Monday, April 28, at midnight.

To facilitate this process, the offices and administrations issuing all the above-mentioned documents will be open during working hours. However, they will remain open until midnight on the last day for submitting and withdrawing applications.
