Prime Minister Nawaf Salam reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing Akkar and enhancing its security, during a visit to Kleiate Airport on Tuesday. Addressing key concerns, he stressed the strategic importance of the airport for the northern region and pledged to reopen it within a year.

During the visit, Salam discussed the growing presence of displaced persons in Akkar and underscored the need for concrete development projects. He announced that the government would actively seek proposals to advance infrastructure and economic initiatives in the area.

“The government is committed to supporting Akkar, both in development and security,” Salam stated. “Reopening Kleiate Airport is a priority, and we will work toward achieving this goal within the coming year.”

The visit aligns with the government’s broader efforts to boost regional infrastructure and address local challenges, particularly in underdeveloped areas like Akkar.
