Massive airstrikes targeted Beirut and its southern suburb simultaneously, rocking the capital and its surroundings, and sending panic waves among the population.
The wave of air raids early afternoon Tuesday followed six evacuation warnings posted by Israeli Army spokesperson Avichay Adraee for several neighborhoods in Beirut’s southern suburb, including Hadath, Burj Batahneh, Haret Hreik and Ghobeiry,.
However, an Israeli airstrike targeted a building located in the area of Nuweiri-Ras el Nabeh in the heart of Beirut which was omitted from the evacuation warnings.
The strike leveled to the ground the building that sustained a direct hit. According to the official National News Agency (NNA), three people were killed and 26 injured in that strike, while rescue teams are still removing the rubble in search for survivors.
The Israeli Army said it hit 20 Hezbollah targets within two minutes, including money deposits and several branches of Hezbollah’s financial institution, Qard al-Hasan.
The Israeli Army Radio said earlier that a “final, massive air attack is expected in the coming hours on Hezbollah’s infrastructure in Beirut.”
The wave of attacks came in parallel with reports of an imminent ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah which could be announced in the coming hours.
