“UN Security Council Resolution 1701 must be fully and promptly implemented,” emphasized Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit during his visit to Ain al-Tineh on Monday.
Following a meeting with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Aboul Gheit outlined the Arab League’s unwavering support for Lebanon amidst ongoing conflicts.
“I conveyed the Arab League’s full support to Lebanon during this difficult time,” he stated, stressing to Berri “the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire and the election of a president”—crucial steps toward stabilizing the region.
He further reinforced the Arab League’s stance on Lebanon’s sovereignty, demanding the immediate “withdrawal of Israeli forces from any Lebanese territories they have entered.”
