Beirut Metropolitan Elias Audi stressed the importance of the Constitution, saying that "its respect is a duty and its application is obligatory."
In his Sunday sermon, Audi expressed the wish that the Constitution of Lebanon be respected by all, particularly by the MPs, "in order to relieve the people of psychological and material pressures" and offer them "a little stability."
He recalled that the country's Constitution is the "supreme law that governs the functioning of authorities within the state," serving as "a guide for every official, governor, parliamentarian, and anyone working in the service of the nation.
"Just as the Fathers of the Church opposed heresies, Parliament must be the bulwark against any heresy that some might try to propagate or generalize," he concluded.
