The Maronite Patriarch, Bechara al-Raï, recalled that “in war, there is no winner; everyone is a loser.”
In his Sunday homily, al-Raï estimated that “true heroism lies in building peace, in peaceful solutions, and in dialogue," inviting people to pray so that “God touches the consciences of warlords and transforms them into peacemakers.”
He urged political leaders to “attend to social and economic affairs and to the security of the people,” as well as to “elect a president of the Republic in line with the Constitution." According to him, this would restore “the confidence of the citizens in the person of the president and in the constitutional institutions of the state.”
