Risso's Dolphin Washed Up on Shore in Akkar
“A Risso’s dolphin was found dead on a beach in Akkar, in the north of the country, near Kleiat Airport,” said the Akkar Trail Association in a statement on Friday.

According to the statement, the animal’s remains were to be transported by “a team from the National Center for Marine Sciences (NCMS), in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Internal Security Forces (ISF), based on a court order.”

“This species of dolphin is considered one of the largest. The Risso’s dolphin is also called the ‘orca dolphin.’ It lives in tropical and temperate waters and rarely approaches beaches,” added the association.

The Akkar Trail Association is an NGO that aims to preserve the environment and develop ecotourism infrastructure based on mountain hiking trails in Akkar, North Lebanon. It is very effective in preventing and fighting fires in this district.
