UN Report: Israeli Army Kills 'Clearly Identifiable' Journalist in Lebanon
An Israeli tank killed a Reuters Lebanese journalist in Southern Lebanon last year (October 2023) when it fired at a group of "clearly identifiable journalists" – according to a UN investigation published by Reuters.

A UN team investigated the incident that occurred on October 13, in which the Lebanese journalist Issam Abdallah was killed and six other journalists were wounded in Alma al-Shaab in the South of Lebanon.

The investigation found that no exchange of fire occurred at the time of the incident, and the report stated that shooting civilians violates international law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701. The UN report said that the reason for the attack is unknown.

An Israeli Army  spokesperson, who was asked about the report, told Reuters that "Hezbollah attacked the Israeli forces near Hanita that day and the army retaliated, shooting at the location to remove the threat, only afterward receiving a report that the journalists were wounded."
