Hamadeh Comments on the Expansion of Israeli Attacks
MP Marwan Hamadeh, member of the Democratic Gathering bloc, reacted on Wednesday to the escalation of tensions initiated by Israel and the spread of the conflict, stressing that the so-called "rules of engagement" have gotten out of hand.

In an interview with "The Voice of Lebanon," Hamadeh said that Israel's decision is clear, "a war against Lebanon could serve as an alternative to what Israel cannot undertake, particularly at Rafah. It seems that Israel is seeking to divert attention and perhaps appease American anger by specifically targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon."

Hamadeh stressed the close link between the battlefield and politics, while wondering what would be the reaction of Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah to this escalation. He also asked about Iran's position on extending the war to Lebanon, and whether the US would consider shifting the conflict to the region.

He also discussed Israel's ability to wage war on two fronts.

According to Hamadeh, the discussions following the visit of US envoy Amos Hochstein raised both positive and negative points, with opportunities to be exploited, underlining the importance of reassessing the link between the conflict in South Lebanon and the situation in Gaza.

He concluded, "Today, the ruling is in favor of the extreme right in Israel, and contrary to rumors, its popularity increases in the midst of the ongoing war."
