Lebanon celebrates its 79th Lebanese Army Day on August 1. On this occasion, officials from across the political spectrum paid tributes to the military forces. The outpouring of heartfelt sentiments underscores the deep respect and admiration for the Lebanese Army’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation.
Major General Elias al-Baissari, Director General of General Security, commended the army’s dedication in defying all odds and carrying the responsibility of maintaining security.
Caretaker Minister of Interior Bassam Mawlawi lauded the army as the defender of the country.
Caretaker Minister of Industry George Bouchikian highlighted the day’s importance for Lebanon: “Army Day strengthens independence”.
Former Prime minister, Saad Hariri, in a post on “X”, praised the army for defending Lebanon’s sovereignty, borders and territorial integrity. He added that this legitimate institution is the guarantor of Lebanese unity.

Also on ‘X’, MP Michel Moawad reiterated “that there is no unity, state, security, stability, or prosperity without the monopoly of the army and legitimate security forces over weapons”.

Lebanese Forces MP Ghayath Yazbeck reflected on the day’s significance and MP Michel Daher acknowledged the army’s critical role amidst turmoil.
Kataeb MP Elias Hankash stressed the importance of the Lebanese Army’s role, stating, “We only want the Lebanese Army to be present in Lebanon.” His colleague, MP Camille Chamoun joined him in stressing on the importance of exclusive military control by the Lebanese Army.
Head of the Lebanese Democratic Party Talal Arslan saluted military members and Elie Mahfoud, Head of the Change Movement, praised the army’s role in promoting national unity.
National Moderation MP Ahmad al-Khair expressed gratitude for the army’s sacrifices reiterating the army’s motto: ‘Honor, Sacrifice, Loyalty.’
Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) MP Simon Abi Ramia called for everyone to unite behind the army despite political differences adding that the Lebanese Army is the bridge of unity between the nation’s sons.
