Following the attack on South Lebanon that left one journalist dead and six wounded, the Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, stated, “We always try to minimize and avoid civilian casualties. Certainly, we do not want to harm, kill, or fire upon any journalist doing their job.”

He continued, “But as you know, we are in a state of war, and regrettable things can happen. We feel sorry, and we will investigate the matter. It’s too early to know what happened there.”

He concluded that Tel Aviv would investigate the incident, which left Reuters photojournalist Issam Abdallah dead, and six reporters representing Al Jazeera, AFP and Reuters wounded.
