The exhibition Femmes en couleurs (Women In Colors) splendidly illuminates the multifarious facets of womanhood. The compilation is a harmonious amalgamation of varied experiences, presenting a cohesive vision created by a synergistic duo, a photographer and a painter. This exhibition is an eloquent reflection of the understanding and appreciation of women’s perspectives, with Antoine Fadel offering insights through a man’s lens and Lara Agopian exploring contemplations through her canvases. This particular visual exploration is scheduled to run from September 28 through October 1 at Beit Beirut.

With each artistic delineation and immortalized moment, crossing both space and time, Femmes en couleurs invites the exhibition’s visitors on a contemplative journey where photography and painting intertwine to worship the women who infuse color into our existences.

Antoine Fadel – Photographer:

Antoine Fadel’s mastery of visual components and inherent emotional depth in the field of filmmaking and storytelling has established him as a quintessential creator. Transitioning from a creative fashion photographer to a director, Fadel manifests his predilection for vibrant visuals and narrative. Every photograph he creates unfolds a tale of grace, while each movement reveals a story awaiting articulation.

How would you define your own genre of creative fashion photography?

Merging elements of fine art and fashion culminates in images that are visually entrancing and expressive. Fine art photography places emphasis on the artistic and conceptual facets of the medium, while fashion photography concentrates on showcasing attire, accessories, and models in a visually attractive manner. My endeavor is to seamlessly integrate these styles to concoct unique and thought-provoking imagery that intertwines elements of both realms.

What has your experience taught you in the field of photography?

In essence, photography is a discipline that values both technical mastery and artistic expression. Experience serves as an invaluable mentor, offering opportunities to expand, refine and enhance one’s skills while navigating the boundless potentialities of this medium. A few pivotal learnings include: the importance of thoroughly understanding the rules before breaking them; the crucial interplay of light and movement; meticulous attention to details and finalization; the essence of teamwork and creativity; and above all, the necessity to preserve one’s passion relentlessly.

Does your inspiration differ from one country to another?

Unquestionably. Every element that constitutes a picture serves as a catalyst for my inspiration. The absence of any of these elements can inherently constrain the creative process, be ir related to the location, makeup, model or attire. Ultimately, even the most innovative idea, bereft of the necessary elements, will remain unrealized.

Lara Agopian – Painter/Artist:

Lara Agopian, an unbounded artist, paints from her soul’s abyss, propelled by her love for beauty. Unencumbered by formal training, Agopian’s artistry is driven by instinct and inspiration. Enthralled by varied stimuli from films and music to captivating locales, her surroundings ignite her artistic fervor.

What range of colors is predominantly present in your paintings, and why?

My palette exhibits a diverse array of colors with the persistent intention to elucidate the concept that color has the power to illuminate and enrich our lives amidst its complexities. I strive to infuse each piece with jubilant and lively colors, symbolizing the infusion of light and vivacity into the fabric of existence.

What inspires you?

An interesting note: I have immersed myself in over 400 TV shows, and a multitude of my creative musings emanate from the artworks, dialogues and visual components I encounter during these viewings. This amalgamation of stimuli, coupled with the music I resonate with and the diverse individuals and locales surrounding me, weave together to form a rich tapestry of inspiration for my artwork.

Common Question: What is common in your exhibition? Is it the style and spirit, or on the contrary, the contrast?

A.F.: Undeniably, it is the spirit. The colors, the vibrant shades, the lines and the movements are the essential elements leading to Femmes en couleurs.

L.A.: The common thread interweaving our artistic styles is our collective dedication to illustrating the rich and intricate tapestry of human experiences, exalting its multifaceted elegance and profundity.

Femmes en couleurs serves as a luminous exemplar of artistic collaboration, elucidating the diverse and intricate aspects of womanhood. Through their distinctive artistic mediums, Fadel and Agopian intertwine their insights and expressions to celebrate women’s myriad perspectives. The exhibition is not just a visual feast but a contemplative journey, inviting reflection on the profound and colorful tapestry of human existence, thus magnifying the beauty and complexity inherent in every individual’s experience.
