In a statement on Saturday, the Makassed Philanthropic Islamic Association addressed the recent aggressions against the hospital and its staff, demanding heightened security measures from the Lebanese security and military forces.

This comes in response to the incidents that occurred yesterday, Friday, on the hospital premises, where two individuals (from the area’s youth), known to everyone, forcefully removed a patient without paying the remaining amount required from her, in the presence of the medical and nursing staff, and physically assaulted the on-duty nurse, and threatened the head nurse.

The association also reminded citizens that the continuation of such action could possibly lead to the closure of Al-Makassed hospital and schools. They stated, “finally, we caution that such actions will inevitably force the hospital to close due to its inability to meet its obligations to suppliers and staff, leaving the entire region without a hospital to turn to.”
