Libya’s judicial authorities have formally asked Lebanon to release Hannibal Gaddafi, who was held without charges, due to his deteriorating health, according to the Associated Press.

Gaddafi’s health has deteriorated since he went on a hunger strike on June 3 to protest his incarceration without trial. He’s been to the hospital at least twice since then, and he’s only been drinking small amounts of water.

Hannibal Gaddafi, Muammar Gaddafi’s youngest son, has been detained at the Internal Security Forces headquarters in Beirut since 2015. His incarceration is linked to the 1978 abduction of Shiite cleric Imam Moussa al-Sadr during a visit to Tripoli, Libya.
