The Supreme Islamic Sharia Council in Lebanon, under the leadership of Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, held a significant meeting at Dar al-Fatwa. The council discussed various crucial aspects, including Islamic affairs and national issues.

During the meeting, the council expressed deep concern about the institutional vacuum within Lebanon’s constitutional establishments. It highlighted “the detrimental impact of this trend, affecting the presidency, government functionality, military leadership, central bank governance, and hindering judicial investigations, as exemplified by the tragic Beirut port explosion.” The council emphasized that “this state of affairs had reached an unprecedented level, leaving Lebanon’s institutions in a state of forced hiatus.”

Furthermore, the council lamented the alarming consequences of this ongoing deterioration, “which poses a serious threat to Lebanon, including the risk of chaos and potential collapse.” It criticized the “insufficient acknowledgment of these risks and urged the adoption of a more proactive and decisive approach to safeguard the future and destiny of the nation.
