Israeli army forces have increased the number of violations of the Blue Line in several areas adjacent to the towns of Mays Al-Jabal, Hula, Markaba, and Hunin in southern Lebanon. The Blue Line was set by the United Nations in 2000 to confirm withdrawal of the Israeli forces from the south of Lebanon.
A Lebanese army unit intercepted an Israeli bulldozer excavating soil in an attempt to breach the Blue line and an observation point at the border of Mays Al-Jabal. Several army vehicles were deployed adjacent to the bulldozer. The Lebanese army intervened, forcing the Israeli unit to retreat. A UNIFIL patrol documented the breach.
A similar excavation incident happened between the towns of Markaba and Hunin, where local residents gathered, prompting Israeli soldiers to fire warning shots.
