The head of the Syndicate of Pharmacists in Lebanon, Joe Salloum, said on Thursday, June 22, that he has filed a lawsuit with the Public Prosecutor against smugglers of counterfeit medicaments, which now “account for more than 30% of the medications available on the market.”

In an interview with a local media outlet, Salloum pointed out that the smuggled medicines are being sold on electronic platforms.

He said that “the syndicate’s goal is to reach individuals involved in smuggling counterfeit medicines.”

He also urged “the relevant authorities to shoulder their responsibilities,” and stressed that “patients’ lives is not a game,” and that “every smuggler should be duly punished.”
