Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant ordered the army to prepare to evacuate localities bordering the north on Sunday, October 8, after calling for similar arrangements for those within a three-kilometer radius of Gaza.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has ordered the Israeli army to prepare to evacuate the north of the country in the event of a Hezbollah attack on Sunday, October 8. The decision comes a day after Israeli forces were ordered to evacuate civilians from the south, following the conflict that began on Saturday with the Hamas attack.

The concerned area encompasses less than three and a half kilometers from the Gaza Strip. However, Israeli forces had to halt their efforts on Sunday.

Mr. Gallant demanded that the Israeli army begin supplying residents with firearms and ammunition. In addition, communication with all mayors and regional councils in the territory surrounding the Gaza Strip is now handled by an army officer.

The Israeli government cabinet officially declared the country to be in a “state of war” on Saturday, October 7.
