The Institut Français in Beirut organized a ceremony in honor of the Lebanese volunteers participating in the organization of the Summer Olympics, which will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, and the Paralympics, which will take place from August 28 to September 8, in the garden of the French Consulate.

Hervé Magro, the French Ambassador to Lebanon, Dr. Pierre Jalakh, President of the Olympic Committee, Dr. Raja Labaki, representing the Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Georges Kallas, Dr. Georges Assaf, Director of the “Sports Academy School,” several members of the embassy and the Institut Français, the volunteers and their families, as well as several Lebanese sports champions and journalists attended the ceremony.

Hervé Magro gave a speech in which he welcomed those present and spoke about the countdown to the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on July 26.

He expressed his joy at seeing more than twenty Lebanese volunteers participating in the organization of the Olympic Games.

He also announced the presence of 16 Lebanese firefighters who helped extinguish the fires that occurred following the explosion on August 4, 2020, at the Olympic competitions.

Hervé Magro thanked the ‘Sports Academy School,’ France Volontaires, the Lebanese and French Olympic Committees, and the relevant sports federations. Magro added, “The French Embassy supports Lebanese sports.”

The dignitaries present awarded certificates to the volunteers in a festive atmosphere.
