The European Commission announced on Monday the allocation of €10 million in humanitarian aid for the people of Lebanon affected by the escalating hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel.

This emergency funding aims to address the most urgent needs, such as protection, food assistance, shelter, and healthcare.

“The European Union remains ready to provide further support by mobilizing all available emergency response tools, including the use of the Civil Protection Mechanism,” the EU stated.

With this contribution, the European Union will have provided €74 million in humanitarian aid to assist vulnerable groups in Lebanon throughout 2024.

In addition, the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, ordered the provision of urgent relief assistance to the Lebanese people, amounting to $100 million.

This aid package is expected to significantly bolster ongoing humanitarian efforts to support the country amid the escalating conflict.

On Sunday evening, the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, delivered 12 tons of medicine and medical supplies to the Lebanese Minister of Health in Beirut.

The supplies, transported by air by the French Ministry of the Armed Forces, aim to meet urgent and general medical needs, particularly in pediatrics.

This operation also enabled the delivery of two mobile health posts, which will provide care for 1,000 seriously injured patients in Lebanese hospitals.

Additionally, 18 cases of medicine supplied by the Tulipe Association will allow NGOs to restock essential medicines for emergency, pediatric, and general health services.

Jean-Noël Barrot also announced the release of €10 million in emergency humanitarian aid from France to support the work of humanitarian organizations on the ground, with the Lebanese Red Cross being a key player.
