In the wake of the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’s political bureau, in Tehran, several condemnations poured in on Wednesday in Lebanon.

Hezbollah

In a statement, Hezbollah announced that “the martyrdom of Haniyeh will strengthen the determination and obstinacy of fighters on all resistance fronts in the face of the Zionist enemy.”

“We especially address the honorable and sacrificial family that presented dozens of martyrs from its men and women on the road to liberating Jerusalem and Palestine,” the statement continued.

Supreme Islamic Shiite Council

The Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Islamic Shiite Council, Sheikh Ali al-Khatib, strongly condemned “assassinating the head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh.”

He described the act as “terrorist,” stating that “consequences will be borne by the leaders of the Zionist entity, which will backfire on its threatened entity.”

Khatib said, “the blood of Haniyeh and his brothers will not be wasted, and the assassination crime will not discourage the determination of the resistance men to liberate the occupied land and save the holy sites.”

Progressive Socialist Party

The Progressive Socialist Party condemned the assassination of the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, and his companion. It expressed condolences to Hamas and the Palestinians, affirming its stance alongside the Palestinians “in the face of the ongoing Israeli barbarism.”

Bizri

For his part, MP Abdul Rahman Bizri condemned “the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh,” expressing “condolences and congratulations (on his martyrdom) to the Palestinian people and Hamas movement.”

In a statement, he considered that “this treacherous operation will not hinder the resistance but will increase its momentum and enthusiasm because the Palestinian people have made their historic decision to liberate and restore their political rights and confront their enemy.”

Syrian Social Nationalist Party

Former head of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party Assaad Hardan denounced the assassination of Haniyeh, “who died as a martyr, as a result of a cowardly operation carried out by the Zionist enemy.”

He pointed out that “all resistance fighters, and Haniyeh is one of them, when they made their decision to engage in resistance work, set their sights on achieving victory or martyrdom on its path, in order to save all of Palestine from occupation, terrorism and racism.”
