The Ministry of Foreign Affairs submitted to Lebanon’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York a letter addressed by caretaker Foreign Abdallah Bou Habib to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, containing Lebanon’s request to renew UNIFIL’s mandate for another year.
The letter stresses Lebanon’s appreciation of the role played by the peacekeeping force in the south, and its commitment to the full implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701.
UNIFIL’s mandate is renewed annually on August 31st.
