The Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alaa Moussa, has confirmed that the Quintet’s work is ongoing, with an approach tailored to the Lebanese reality, and that consultations with various political forces are underway.

During an appearance on Naharkom Said on LBCI, Moussa emphasized that the committee’s work is consistently progressing, even if in incremental steps at times, particularly since not all of its activities are publicized, saying, “Our dialogue with the political blocs confirms that they are ready, even if to varying degrees, to make a breakthrough.”

Moussa pointed out that “all the opinions we received after the last statement were positive and encouraging, which prompted us to take further steps,” pointing out that the Quintet seeks to overcome obstacles.

He also saw that “despair” does not exist in the political framework. The Quintet is convinced that the solution will come from within Lebanon, and is only there to help that happen.

“What we have seen is that the area of distrust between the political parties is large, which makes them apprehensive of each other, and if the Quintet obtains a full commitment from the political forces, then it can come forward with certain guarantees, and thus the reassurance is linked to the commitment of the political forces and to a consensus,” he said.
