The differences between Hezbollah and the Amal movement have not yet been made public. However, the disagreements are tangible on the ground and in the day-to-day interactions between members of the pro-Iranian formation and the Shiite movement. Tensions are contained between the Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri and Hezb Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah to prevent any disagreement on the street, and to ensure that any divergence remains confined within the limits pre-established by the two men.

Despite the precautions taken, rumors of a political rift between the two Shiite movements are rife. Furthermore, some would go so far as to report that the Shiite street is seething with resentment towards both groups because of the ravages suffered by the inhabitants of the south, which are perceived as pointless sacrifices to Iran and Palestine, and which also endanger Lebanon and the Lebanese.
