According to Al-Markaziya news agency, a French-Qatari summit in support of the Lebanese army is scheduled for February 27 between French President Emmanuel Macron and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The respective commanders of the French and Qatari armies and the Commander-in-Chief of the Lebanese Army, General Joseph Aoun, are expected to participate in part of the discussions.

The situation in South Lebanon and ways of supporting the army are said to be on the agenda.

As a reminder, Qatar and France, along with the United States, are among the best supporters of the military institution, which has been facing multiple challenges since the start of an unprecedented economic and financial crisis that continues to affect Lebanon.
