Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s advisor on Russian relations, Georges Chaaban, has extended an invitation to the head of the Future Movement to visit Moscow on a date to be set later, depending on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s schedule.

Russia supported Saad Hariri’s return to Lebanon as a crucial step towards a balanced and consensual solution to the crisis between the various Lebanese parties, starting with the election of a president and the formation of a government. Russia sees Mr. Hariri’s return as an important milestone that can contribute to a comprehensive solution and the restoration of Lebanon’s role. This will ensure that the widening front between Lebanon and Israel is limited. In this way, Russia aims to calm the situation to resolve the conflict in Gaza and launch the two-state solution process.

Furthermore, according to well-informed diplomatic sources, Russia has succeeded in preventing the Axis of Resistance forces from opening a front in the Golan Heights in parallel with the war in Gaza. At this stage, Moscow continues to use its diplomatic channels and emissaries to prevent the outbreak of war in southern Lebanon, as this would have negative repercussions on its presence in Syria. This is why Moscow is intensifying its contacts, particularly with Israel, to halt hostilities in southern Lebanon, taking advantage of Iran’s position in refusing war in Lebanon.
