The Lebanese-American Coordinating Committee (LACC) recently concluded a series of high-level meetings in Washington and New York, underscoring its commitment to advancing the interests of the Lebanese diaspora and Lebanon itself. These meetings addressed pressing issues concerning Lebanon’s sovereignty, freedom and identity.

During their visit to Washington from February 5 to 10, 2024, LACC representatives held discussions with officials from the Department of State, the Senate, the Congress, the White House and the Arab League Ambassador in Washington.

Following their engagements in Washington, the delegation proceeded to New York, where they met with the Assistant Secretary-General for Middle East Affairs at the United Nations and several Permanent Missions to the United Nations.

During their tour, the LACC delegation conveyed crucial messages outlined in a policy paper, emphasizing several points. These include reaffirming Lebanon’s neutrality in the Israel-Hamas conflict, empowering the Lebanese Army (LAF) to safeguard the nation’s borders, and addressing the presidential vacancy to uphold Lebanese constitutional institutions.

Following the conference in Washington, the committee delegation flew to New York to hold extensive meetings with several permanent missions to the Security Council and the Deputy Office of the United Nations Secretary-General for Middle East Affairs.

The New York meetings culminated in conclusions stressing the importance of diplomatic efforts to deter Israeli aggression and the urgent need to elect a president for Lebanon. An emphasis was placed on supporting the Lebanese Army and preventing regional destabilization.

Additionally, they highlighted that, in the case of the presidential election, “no compromises are made at the expense of Lebanon’s sovereignty and long-term stability.”

As a reminder, the LACC represents a coalition of organizations including The American Lebanese Policy Institute – Political Action Committee (ALPI-PAC), Assembly for Lebanon (AFL), Lebanese American Renaissance Partnership (LARP), Lebanese for Lebanon Foundation (LFLF), Lebanese Information Center (LIC), Our New Lebanon (ONL), Shields of United Lebanon (SOUL), and World Lebanese Cultural Union (WLCU), as well as the Civic Influence Hub (CIH) that serves as the Lebanese Advisory Organization.

It serves as a vital platform for Lebanese-Americans to advocate for Lebanon’s interests on the global stage. Through their concerted efforts, the committee aims to contribute positively to Lebanon’s stability, sovereignty and long-term prosperity.
