Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati condemned the recent attack on Nabatiyeh, denouncing what he termed “persistent Israeli aggression” against southern Lebanon. This comes in the wake of a tragic incident in Nabatiyeh where seven members of a single family lost their lives due to Israeli shelling.

“In view of the persistence of this Israeli aggression, the loss of victims, and the massive destruction caused by the aggression, I consulted with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Abdallah Bou Habib on the situation and requested the submission of a new urgent complaint against Israel to the UN Security Council,” Mikati stated.

The Caretaker Prime Minister expressed concern over the continued aggression from the Israeli side, despite calls for peace. He explained that this “prompts us to ask the international stakeholders in the initiative about the steps that have been taken to curb Israel.”

In response to the escalation in the south, Mikati asked “the Minister of Environment to call for an urgent meeting of the National Emergency Committee to keep abreast of the situation.”

“The Minister of Health also briefed me on the health and hospitalization situation in the south and the urgent steps taken,” he added.
