MP Nadim Gemayel criticized caretaker Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib on Tuesday, labeling him a “dhimmi” and accusing him of betraying the national principles he once upheld.

In a statement on his official account, the Kataeb MP questioned the qualifications of a diplomat who fails to acknowledge Lebanon’s sovereignty, its institutions, and its army. Gemayel concluded by asserting that Bou Habib’s statements align with those of Hezbollah.

Bou Habib said on Tuesday that the Lebanese army lacks the necessary capabilities for deployment at the border.

On Tuesday evening, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement refuting any doubts about the army’s ability to deploy and take command in southern Lebanon. The Ministry denied that the Minister had made such a statement, emphasizing that the information had been taken out of context.

Former MP Fares Souaid responded to the Foreign Ministry’s denial, advising the Minister to convene a press conference to address the matter.
