An honor charter was signed between the Union of Educational Institutions and the Teachers’ Syndicate at the Ministry of Education on Monday.

Shortly after, the Teachers’ Syndicate issued a statement that says, “Based on the agreement signed at the Ministry of Education, which obliges the Union of Private Educational Institutions to finance the Compensation Fund with a monthly amount of 60 billion Lebanese pounds for the purpose of increasing the pensions of retired teachers sixfold, the Syndicate announces that tomorrow, Tuesday, January 23, 2024, is a regular teaching day in private schools.”

The statement emphasized “full commitment to implementing this agreement to ensure that the increase in retired teachers’ pensions be effective at the end of this month (January).”

The syndicate pledges “to continue the struggle to improve their living conditions until the approval of a new salary scale and pensions that preserve the dignity of all teachers.”
