Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated on Thursday that “Israel prefers the diplomatic path to calm tensions on the border with Lebanon, but the remaining time to reach a peaceful solution to this problem is continuously diminishing.”

During a meeting with Amos Hochstein, the Senior Advisor for Global Energy Security at the US Department of State, who visited Israel on Thursday, Gallant emphasized that Israel “will not tolerate threats” and has “a determined intention to change the security reality in the North and along the border with Lebanon.”

Gallant explained that the only possible outcome of the border clash is “a new reality in the North that allows the safe return of our citizens.”

He said that Israel had “reached a crossroads” with Lebanon, emphasizing that there is “little time left for the diplomatic agreements Israel prefers.”
