Thousands participated in a demonstration called by the “Islamic Group” in Martyrs’ Square in Downtown Beirut, in support of Gaza on October 29.

The demonstration called against the “Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the massacres committed against civilians, especially children”. Numerous supporters of Hamas and the Islamic Jihad attended from various regions and Palestinian camps.

The entrances to Beirut, especially the northern one, witnessed severe traffic congestion due to hundreds of cars and buses coming from Tripoli, Akkar, and the Beddawi Palestinian refugee camp.

Representatives of the Palestinian factions and several Lebanese parties participated in the demonstration, in addition to the leaders of the “Islamic Group”, the head of its political bureau, and members of its offices and institutions in all Lebanese regions.

In addition to the group’s flags, the participants raised the Lebanese and Palestinian flags and the flags of the factions. They also raised chants supporting the people of Gaza, Al-Aqsa Mosque, and Palestine.

On the way to the demonstration, three people were killed and four others were injured in a horrific traffic accident on the Jounieh-Dabayeh Highway, involving an SUV and a passenger bus headed from the town of Btormaz in the Dinnieh district to Martyrs Square.
