Israeli President Isaac Herzog said on Tuesday, October 24, that his country “is not seeking any confrontation along its northern border or with any other parties.”

Herzog, who made the remarks during a joint press conference with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, warned that “if Hezbollah drags us into war, Lebanon will pay the price.”

The Israeli president added that his army was “currently concentrating on eliminating the Hamas infrastructure and recovering hostages” from the pro-Iranian Palestinian group.

For his part, Macron stressed that France had already “sent several messages to Hezbollah to warn it against taking part in the Gaza war.”

These messages had been conveyed to the Lebanese authorities by the new French ambassador in Beirut, Herve Magro, as well as by the French Minister of Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna during her visit to Beirut on October 16.

Macron paid a visit to Tel Aviv on Tuesday to express solidarity with Israel.
