Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdallah Bou Habib warned the West that “any potential war would reinforce Hezbollah, similarly to the 2006 war.”
“Our friends in the West should pressure Israel for a ceasefire and refrain from waging war against ‘the party,’ as claimed by the Israeli Defense Minister,” he added in an interview with local TV station MTV.

According to Bou Habib “All provocations are emerging from the Israeli officials while none have been made from Hezbollah’s side, and the absence of any statement from Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah is proof of that, which only means he is against any escalation, our dialogue with the party continues, and he is concerned about Lebanon.”

Bou Habib revealed that “Hamas informed Iran and Hezbollah that it can withstand for months during the ground battle. Thus, ‘the party’ will not intervene unless it is a significant invasion of Gaza or a major attack on Lebanon. Hezbollah and Iran told us they were not aware in advance of the ‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood,’ and Blinken admitted to that.”

He pointed out that he did not know the reason behind Lebanon not being invited to the Cairo Summit and that he had hoped the summit would succeed and issue a unified statement. Bou Habib concluded by saying, “It is the responsibility of the Americans to pressure Israel to prevent a regional war; they will not be able to eliminate Hamas.”
