Hezbollah continued its military escalation on Saturday on the southern borders, with incessant and intensified targeting of Israeli sites amid Israeli artillery and aerial shelling on border villages including Yarin, Rmeish and Ayta al-Shaab, and the use of phosphorus shells.

The escalation has expanded, yet the rules of the battle remain the same.

At around 8:30 p.m., an Israeli aircraft raided the outskirts of the towns of Yarin and al-Jubbayn, and another airstrike targeted the vicinity of the towns of Dhaira and Yarin with two missiles. Earlier in the evening, the Israeli army launched an airstrike on the outskirts of the town of Ayta al-Shaab.

The Israeli media said preparations are underway for the evacuation of three additional settlements on the border with Lebanon in the coming hours.

This afternoon, Hezbollah announced targeting the Abbad and Hanita sites with guided missiles and “destroying a quantity of technical and technological equipment,” in addition to launching rockets and weapons at the occupied Shebaa Farms’ Rweisat al-Alam site and the hills of Kfarchouba.

These rapid developments on the border prompted a call from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, confirming ‘Washington’s support for the Lebanese people,” while Israeli Defense Army spokesperson Avichay Adraee said that the Lebanese government is responsible for what is happening on Lebanese soil.
