Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on Wednesday, “We are subject to the law of the jungle, whereby the powerful kills, without fear, the weak, while the international community observes the situation without reacting and even takes position in favor of the executioner.”

Having taken part in a sit-in in front of the Ministry of Health in Beirut to denounce the deadly attack on the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza, in the presence of caretaker Minister of Health Firas Abiad, Mikati stressed that this sit-in has two objectives, “Underline solidarity with the people of Gaza and denounce the violations of human values in this territory.”

He insisted on “his support for the medical staff in Gaza,” specifying that “for 75 years, Lebanon has supported the Palestinian cause.” Mikati emphasized the need to “work to make the international community aware of the attacks against human values,” asking, “What is the position of the United Nations and the Security Council? What about the United Nations charter?” He insisted, “We are sending our message to the world because we adhere to human values and we seek the preservation of the world order, based on justice, which today is at the heart of the problem.”
