October 17, 2023. Four years have passed since the eruption of protests in Beirut and the start of the economic crisis, still casting a gloomy shadow over the city.
Many businesses in Downtown Beirut still have their doors closed, leaving the area bleak and desolate.
Only Martyrs’ Square and Riad el-Solh stand as symbols of the 2019 uprising, yet the political goals and social demands of those who demonstrated remain unfulfilled.
