The Metropolitan Bishop of the Greek Orthodox Church of Beirut, Elias Audi, stated on Sunday that the situation in Lebanon “will not improve in the absence of a president and a strong authority that can enforce the law on all.” According to him, it is necessary to “punish anyone who threatens security, breaks the law, or jeopardizes public safety.”

Audi reminded in his Sunday sermon that “society and citizenship are based on ethical principles.” He explained, “Without ethics, societies collapse, and each individual will prioritize his own interests, even at the expense of others.” He added, “If morality and virtues were deeply rooted in souls, our country would not have fallen so low.”

Audi also lamented the current situation in Lebanon “where most leaders and citizens have forsaken their duties and ethical principles.”
