The Internal Security Forces (ISF) said on Thursday that Mohamad Mehdi Khalil, the young man who fired at the entrance of the US Embassy in suburban Awkar on September 20, had also confessed to firing at a diplomatic residence in Zokak el-Blat on the night of August 25.

According to the ISF press release, the shooting’s motive was a verbal altercation with a diplomatic convoy on the Ring bridge. He then subsequently headed for the residence.

The shells found in front of the residence turned out to be the same as those of the confiscated weapon, said the ISF, pointing out that the suspect had been referred to the relevant judicial authorities.
