Elias Hasrouni’s wife, Ivette Sleiman Hasrouni, passed away in a “car accident” in Ain Ebel, South Lebanon, on Tuesday, October 3, as her vehicle collided with an electric pole.

She was initially taken to the Salah Ghandoor Hospital and had been in critical condition before she succumbed to her injuries.

Ain Ebel’s mayor, Imad al-Lous, confirmed to the Annahar newspaper Ivette Hasrouni’s passing in a car accident and emphasized that the “incident is unrelated to the death of her husband.”

Ivette’s husband, Elias Hasrouni, a former Lebanese Forces official, was found dead in a forest in Ain Ebel on August 2. He was the owner of a restaurant, a swimming pool and a wedding hall. It was initially reported that he died in a car accident, but the case was subsequently ruled as a murder.

An investigation showed that Elias Hasrouni was kidnapped and killed on August 2 in an ambush in a region that falls under the complete control of Hezbollah. At the time, his relative requested to check the surveillance cameras around his house which showed that at 9:16 PM, on the day of his death, two cars, a dark Jeep and a Honda CRV intercepted  Hasrouni’s car. Passengers got out of the CRV and entered the victim’s car, then the three vehicles departed in the direction of the place where Hasrouni’s body was found.

Lebanese Forces (LF) Chief Samir Geagea asserted that Elias Hasrouni’s death was not accidental, as initially claimed. He said it is very clear from the surveillance footage that it was “a premeditated assassination” perpetrated by “the obstructionist (Hezbollah-led) axis, which is a criminal axis!”
