MP Michel Douaihy emphasized on Friday that “Parliament is not the property of Speaker Nabih Berri, nor does it belong to his political party” , and that the Speaker of Parliament is “not the best person to lead the dialogue.”

In an interview with LBCI, Douaihy said that “the solution lies in returning to the law, the Constitution and the interest of our institutions,” affirming his “support to the restoration of the state, not only in terms of sovereignty but also by building institutions and adopting political behavior that reconciles the Lebanese with the concept of public affairs.”

He also stated that he considered anyone affiliated with a specific political party to “be doing nothing but destroying the country.”

Douaihy noted as well that “everyone is waiting for external involvement” to break the presidential deadlock and called on Berri “to convene a session to elect a president.”
