On Sunday, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Beirut, Elias Audi, called on Lebanese leaders to “put an end to conflict-inducing failures, swiftly elect a president, and establish a government that rules with respect for the law, justice and equality.”

During his Sunday sermon, the archbishop stressed the importance of “relying on the state, which should serve as the refuge and protector for all citizens, guaranteeing their rights and promoting justice.” He added, “To achieve this goal, it is necessary to build a strong state and not undermine its sovereignty or the authority of justice.”

Audi insisted, “Those in charge should collaborate with honesty and integrity, instead of pointing fingers at others. Their methods will only further sink the country, and there will be no room for regret at this point.”
