Israeli fighter jets launched a series of airstrikes on eastern Lebanon Tuesday. At least 12 people were killed and eight injured, Bachir Khodr, governor of the Baalbeck-Hermel region said on his X account.

An afternoon strike targeted a machine used for drilling wells and a refugee tent in the area of Wadi Faara, in the district of Hermel, killing 10 people, including seven Syrian nationls, five from the same family, and three Lebanese.

Earlier Tuesday, Israel hit compounds linked to Hezbollah’s elite “Radwan Force” in the Bekaa Valley, according to a statement from the Israeli military .

“These military compounds were used by the Hezbollah terrorist organization to train terrorists on planning and carrying out terrorist attacks against Israeli troops and the State of Israel,” the Israeli military claimed. It added that the facilities were used for “gunfire combat drills and the use of various weapons, and arms storage.”

It said the raids were carried out “based on intelligence provided by the Intelligence Directorate and under the direction of the Northern Command.”

Local sources in Lebanon reported two air raids west of Baalbek: one struck the outskirts of the town of Shmestar, and another targeted Wadi Umm Ali.Other raids targeted Brital and Taraya. Three people were killed and eight wounded in these morning raids.

The “Radwan Force,” a specialized Hezbollah unit, has long been identified by Israel as a central threat on its northern border. It had been advancing what Israeli officials called the “Conquer the Galilee” plan for years. According to the Israeli army, the unit’s senior commanders were eliminated in September 2024 during Operation “Northern Arrows” in Beirut and southern Lebanon.

“Since then, the unit has been operating to reestablish its capabilities,” the army stated, adding that over the past two years, Israeli forces have conducted operations to prevent the rebuilding of the group’s military strength.

“The storage of weapons and the activities of the Hezbollah terrorist organization at these sites constitute a blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon and represent a future threat to the State of Israel,” the army warned.

It further emphasized that Israeli forces “will continue to operate to remove any threat to the State of Israel and will prevent the reestablishment of the Hezbollah terrorist organization.”
