The Lebanese Army carried out “searches in Syrian refugee camps in Baalbeck” on Sunday, reports the daily an-Nahar. These operations occurred across several localities, including al-Taybe, Brital and Souhaide. Other sources have claimed that the search operations also extended to a camp in the Deir al-Ahmar region where internet connection equipment, among other things, was seized.

These searches are taking place in conjunction with a new influx of illegal migrants to Lebanon from its border with Syria. The Army is attempting to control this wave and has already turned back more than 1,500 Syrians over the past week.
