MP Hadi Aboul Hosn, Secretary-General of the Democratic Gathering bloc, raised questions about potential alternatives to dialogue to resolve the ongoing crisis in the country.

He affirmed MP Taymour Jumblatt’s support for the Progressive Socialist Party’s Democratic Gathering approach, which is inclusive, cooperative and dialogue-oriented, emphasizing the “importance of adhering to the Constitution and avoiding boycotts.”

He also noted that “a two-thirds majority is needed to reach consensus.”

Speaking to local media, Aboul Hosn stressed the “importance of ensuring that dialogue is not conditional or vague but focused on agreeing on a national reform-oriented president capable of implementing the Constitution and the Taif Accord in coordination with the government and Parliament.”

He noted that “the visit of French envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian will not make a difference if the Lebanese fail to reach consensus among themselves,” pointing out that “relying on external solutions diminishes our sovereignty and independence.”
