Monaco Deputy Attorney General Morgan Raymond informed the legal representatives of caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati and his family that all investigations in the case opened three years ago based on a report submitted by Lebanese authorities accusing Mikati of illicit enrichment and money laundering have been closed.

“The investigation into Najib Mikati and his family has been closed due to a lack of evidence,” Raymond declared.

This information was published in a statement issued by caretaker Prime Minister Mikati’s Media Office, which also confirmed that this decision is proof of the wrongful allegations made by well-known media who targeted the PM and his family for political motives.

“It is important to emphasize that there are no ongoing investigations, inquiries, or continued accusations against any members of the PM’s family in any foreign country and any claim to the contrary is purely politically motivated campaigns and defamation,” the statement read.

The statement concluded that “PM Mikati and his family are in the process of taking appropriate legal action against those spreading and promoting lies and rumors, in order for the judiciary to issue a decision and ruling.”
