MP Wael Bou Faour of the Progressive Socialist Party revealed the presence of expired agricultural products, some of which are carcinogenic, on the Lebanese market.

On Wednesday, during a press conference in Parliament, he pointed out that “these products are banned in Lebanon and in many other countries,” noting that they are nevertheless “smuggled in from Syria, and through the port of Beirut.”

He added that some products obtained the approval of the Ministry of Health, as their importers passed them as cleaning products.

Bou Faour further pointed out that “three of the products used are carcinogenic, one causes fatal poisoning and another causes memory loss and brain damage in children.”

In this regard, the former Minister of Health affirmed that, on Thursday, he will submit an information note to the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Cassation, detailing the names of the companies and individuals involved.
