Hezbollah unveiled on Friday a new guided missile system that boasts anti-armor and precision features, while the town of Kahaleh was burying the victim of its illegal weapons, Fadi Bejjani, killed by Hezbollah militiamen after a truck filled with ammunition overturned.

According to al-Manar, the new system was unveiled on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of the end of Israel’s 2006 war against Lebanon. The war was launched in July after Hezbollah’s militiamen kidnapped two Israeli soldiers on the southern borders. Israeli hostilities ended on August 14, 2006. Hezbollah’s missile system was unveiled three days before the annual anniversary, during which Hassan Nasrallah will have a speech.

This timing can therefore easily be interpreted as an indirect response to all those who, after the incidents in Kahaleh on Wednesday, made it clear to Hezbollah that it was no longer possible to live with its weapons.

The new weapon system is baptized “Tharollah (AS)”. Al-Manar showed the missile system in action against armor-plated targets and within limited-visibility circumstances.

Pan-Arab media, Al-Myadeen, close to the Iranian axis, showed the report as well. The new system is fitted with Kornet anti-tank guided missiles which makes it effective for deployment against battle tanks.

According to the Iranian news agency that reported about it, the footage showed the dual-platform equipment firing two missiles in succession with projectiles seen hitting several targets.

Hezbollah is making a statement following concerns by the Israeli military and voiced in the press about the party’s military capabilities.
